What is Online Education

What is Online Education

However, colleges and universities offering online degree programs typically must receive formal authorization from a state’s board of education in order to enroll students who live in that state. In other words, a school must be authorized by the state in order to enroll students from that state. As an indication of that trend, the number of graduate students who completed some or all of their courses online grew from approximately 34% to 42% from 2015 to 2019. Within these data, the segment of graduate students who completed their degree exclusively online went from 25.8% to 32.5% over that same period. In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 70.4% of graduate students were enrolled in online courses. Before any online program can hope to succeed, it must have students who are able to access the online learning environment.

"Students considering online study should not be deterred by old-fashioned ideas about ‘real’ degrees only being awarded by campus-based institutions." Institutions may choose to allow students to complete their exams on their own personal computer, in a location of their choosing. Because tutors have no way to oversee a virtual exam or test, they are typically open-book and open-note. As a viable alternative, many institutions will offer the option of completing 'take-home' examinations in the form of an essay or final assignment.

Since students are not required to travel to campus for courses schedule on specific days and times, students can enroll in the courses they are most interested in. There’s no need to rearrange schedules, students in an online program can take the course they want and complete the coursework at a time that is most convenient for them. Through online courses, students can gain the knowledge they need to earn their degree or grow in their profession. Another advantage of online education is that it allows students to attend classes from any location of their choice.

It’s more cost-effective than traditional education.

By understanding more about the advantages and disadvantages of online learning, you can get a better idea of whether it might be suitable for you and your educational and career goals. Pakistan's leading digital provider, Jazz, has launched the "Jazz Parho" campaign. The campaign is created for the purpose of providing remote learning opportunities to students across the country, particularly in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has led to closure of schools in Pakistan. This initiative was launched for the purpose of spreading opportunities for digital learning among university students and providing the youth with skills required to gain good employment options and economic empowerment.

Second, geographic separation is inherent in distance learning, and time may also separate students and teachers. Accessibility and convenience are important advantages of this mode of education. Well-designed programs can also bridge intellectual, cultural, and social differences between students. Most of the time, online learning platforms only allow one student at a time, and in almost all cases, this allows for greater interaction and more feedback between you and your tutor. Online education enables the teacher and the student to set their own learning pace, and there’s the added flexibility of setting a schedule that fits everyone’s agenda. As a result, using an online educational platform allows for a better balance of work and studies, so there’s no need to give anything up.

Office of Online Education

In terms of campus-based learners, our interviewees all described initiatives to make greater use of digital technology to enhance the student experience, and reflected the need to make use of these technologies to support online learners, and to increase efficiency. Our data show how universities expect growth in جامعة المستقبل, and are preparing for a future where learners demand greater flexibility in the modes of study available to them at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels. Our interviewees suggested continued growth in sub-degree qualifications, as alternatives to the traditional 3 year campus-based degree (e.g. micro-credentials, see Oliver, 2019).
